Dr. Soul Emam - Biography
Dr Soul Emam is proud to announce the opening of her Pediatric Dental Specialty practice located at Smiles on Yonge; 8900 Yonge Street in Richmond Hill.
Dr. Soul Emam, a graduate of New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry, received her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2009.
Her passion and commitment to children’s health care, and in particular pediatric dentistry, led her to have an active role in the pediatric clinic at NYU and at Bellevue Hospital. She was accepted into the Honours Program for pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Soul was also accepted into a second Honours Program at Odyssey House (through NYU) - a social services agency with innovative programs assisting families dealing with substance use disorders, medical programs, and intellectual disabilities. During her time at the Odyssey house, Dr. Soul provided dental care to patients ranging from infants to seniors.
She also participated in a number of outreach programs where she treated and cared for patients (mainly children) in communities with little or no access to health care, including the HealthCare International (HCI) program in Jamaica. During her outreach, Dr. Soul also trained school educators in Jamaica to implement preventative measures for children’s dental health.
After graduating from NYU, Dr. Soul went on to complete her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. During her time there, she was also on staff at Jacobi Medical Center (Level 1 Trauma Center), North Central Bronx Hospital, and the Rose F. Kennedy University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.
Dr. Soul has extensive experience in all aspects of pediatric dentistry including preventive and minimally invasive dentistry, treating patients with special needs, interceptive orthodontics, nitrous oxide (commonly known as laughing gas), oral sedation, and general anesthesia. She is also an instructor at the University of Toronto, Children’s Clinic, Faculty of Dentistry.
Dr. Soul received her National Dental Board Certification in 2009. She holds a Fellowship with the Royal College of Canada in Pediatric Dentistry and is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD), which is the highest honour bestowed by the ABPD.
